  • Grid-Tie Systems – Grid-tied or grid-connected are common terms used to describe a solar electric system that is connected directly to the local utility. Grid tie solar packages are usually a combination of solar panels, inverters, ground or roof racks and wires. Though simplified in that explanation, most homeowners with a fundamental grasp of home repair can usually tackle the installation of a system right up to the utility connection if the right support is available.
  • Grid-Tie Systems with Battery Backup – Grid-tie systems with battery back-up will not only allow you to feed excess power back into the grid, but it will also offer you the security of back-up power when the utility goes down. During the day the solar panels will feed any excess power back to the utility. During a black-out the system’s battery bank will provide the electricity to run the loads you deem essential to you.
  • Off-Grid Systems – An off-grid solar system is designed for the power needs of mid- to large-size homes. Unlike grid-tied solar systems, off-grid systems have no connection to the utility grid, and must make all the electricity necessary to power your home.
  • Battery Systems – A benefit to having a Battery System installed at your home or business is the ability to utilize the stored energy produced by your solar system during peak demand times to avoid extra demand charges by the utility companies. Solar battery backup means you will have power when the grid is both up and down. All you need to do is create your own energy with the sun and store it in a solar deep cycle battery. This can be especially useful if you are in an area that has an unreliable grid, or is susceptible to severe weather.
